I think you should actually credit the Hemingway baby shoes story in your artist's description. Your piece, while good, is so similar it's plagiarism without that inspiration being really clear straight from the start. I also think licensing it under copyright is a bit of a stretch. Why not a creative commons license that allows derivative works? That's essentially what you've done.
